Project Specification / Description

JS McCarthy was awarded the maintenance painting contract on the roof structural steel for the Cusack Stand. Due to the highly complex design structure, with large number of trusses, bracing members, purlins and raking columns great care and attention incorporating a logical sequence of operations was required to meet client specifications. In addition abseil access was required for high level roof and rear stadium members.

The specification required power fresh water washing to 6,000psi to remove salts and surface contamination. This was followed by hand and power tool cleaning to ISO 8501-1 :1988 ST3 standard. The application of a spot primer, full coats of surface tolerant aluminium primer, epoxy primer / undercoat and a final coat of polyurethane all brush applied.
